South Facing Garden: If you’re blessed with a South facing garden zone then pick this place to plant your vegetable garden. This area gets the most sunlight which is very important for seeds to establish themselves and produce fruits or vegetables. . 

If you see your garden as a life-time (or at least a longtime) investment then go for an automatic watering system. This will save you time, headache and possibly your relationship with whoever you’re planning to share the watering duty with. Seeds need tons of water so you’ll need to water them everyday unlike houseplants that can suffice from weekly watering sessions. If you don’t want to invest in a watering system then hand watering will do, just water everyday and make sure you’re not showering the plant instead focus the water flow towards their roots.

Additional Watering tip: For optimal watering sessions try watering your plants early in the morning or late evenings after the sun has gone down. Watering your plants during peak sun times leads to faster evaporation. 

Learn more about your vegetable that you’re growing and know when to harvest. Did you know that some vegetables can get too ripe/overgrown for consumption? We learned this the hard way, we waited too long to harvest both our cucumber and okra. We had assumed that dark green=unripe but you can’t always follow the color guide when it comes to growing vegetables, some vegetables continue “growing” even after harvest.

Start small: If you’re new to vegetable gardening then try starting small by testing a few seeds (that you really eat) at a time. Some seeds might sound interesting but after all the effort that you've put into growing them- would you really eat them? If you’re not sure where you start, we recommend our Lettuce mix. Everyone eats salads, they are so easy to grow and they keep on growing/giving!

Container Garden: Some seeds do well in containers/planters, if you’re limited in space then try growing your vegetables in a container. Before you embark on this journey- make sure you’re using the right containers. You don’t want to plant a root vegetable in a shallow container (they’ll need space to grow!).
