How to Care for Your Bonsai Tree
Bonsai are reproductions of natural trees in a miniature form. This practice originates from Japan and China where it has been practiced for centuries. With proper care, your Bonsai will remain healthy and beautiful for many years.
Temperature
When the temperatures do not drop below 40°F, your Bonsai can be placed either outdoors or indoors. Once temperatures go below 40°F, it will need to be taken indoors to warmer temperatures.
Water
You will want to water your Bonsai once the top of the soil becomes dry. Bonsai trees do not like their soil to go completely dry. Water should be applied until it starts pouring out of the drainage holes at the bottom of the pot.
Fertilizing
Fertilizing is necessary to help keep your Bonsai healthy. Since the Bonsai is growing in a small amount of soil within a pot it is essential to replenish the soil with any general-purpose fertilizer. A 20-20-20 fertilizer will work best.
