Meet the Peperomia

Peperomia is a popular houseplant known for its compact size and attractive foliage, which comes in a variety of shapes, textures, and colors. It's easy to care for, thriving in low to medium light, and makes an excellent choice for beginners or as a decorative plant for small spaces.

Light

Peperomia plants thrive in bright, indirect light but can tolerate lower light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight as it can scorch their leaves. Place them near an east or north-facing window for optimal growth.

Water

Water your Peperomia when the top inch of soil feels dry. These plants are sensitive to overwatering, so ensure the soil drains well and avoid letting the plant sit in water. Less frequent watering is better during the winter months.

Humidity

Peperomias are tolerant of typical indoor humidity levels but appreciate a bit more moisture in the air. They do well in moderately humid environments but don’t require misting unless your home is very dry.

Temperature

Peperomias prefer a warm environment between 65°F and 80°F (18°C to 27°C). Keep them away from drafts or sudden temperature changes, as they are sensitive to cold.

   Common Problems Q&A

Why are my Peperomia leaves turning yellow?

Yellowing leaves in Peperomia are often a sign of overwatering. These plants prefer their soil to dry out between waterings. Check the soil moisture, and ensure the pot has proper drainage to prevent root rot.

Why are the leaves of my Peperomia curling?

Leaf curling can indicate that the plant is either underwatered or exposed to cold drafts. Peperomias thrive in consistent, warm conditions and prefer to be watered when the top inch of soil is dry.

Why is my Peperomia leggy with long stems?

Leggy growth is usually a result of insufficient light. Peperomias need bright, indirect light to stay compact. Try moving your plant to a brighter spot to encourage fuller growth.
