Care Guide
Chinese Evergreen
Meet the Chinese Evergreen
Chinese Evergreen plants (Aglaonema) are popular indoor houseplants known for their striking foliage and easy care. These tropical plants come in various shades of green, silver, and sometimes red, making them an attractive addition to any space. Chinese Evergreens are low-maintenance and can thrive in low light, making them ideal for beginners or those with less-than-ideal lighting conditions. They also help purify the air, adding both aesthetic and health benefits to your home or office.
Light
Chinese evergreen plants will thrive in low to bright, indirect light. Different varieties have slightly different light needs, however, and in general, the darker the leaves and stalk, the more tolerant the plant is of low light. For all varieties, avoid full sun, which can scorch the leaves.

Water
Plant in well-draining soil in a pot with drainage holes. Water well, then let the top two inches of soil dry out before watering again. In dimmer lighting conditions, let the soil dry out more before watering again.
Humidity
Keep the Chinese Evergreen plant in a space with humidity levels between 60-70%, misting the leaves regularly or using a humidifier to maintain moisture. Avoid placing it near drafts or vents that could dry out the air.
Temperature
Chinese evergreen plants prefer standard room temperatures between 65º and 80º F, but the biggest pitfall to avoid is temperatures below 60º F.
